Insurance & Payment in the Clinic
At Developmental FX, we strive to make billing and insurance as transparent and straightforward as possible. Whether you are using insurance benefits or paying privately, our team is here to help you understand your options.
Insurance Coverage
Developmental FX bills both in-network and out-of-network insurance plans.
We are in-network with:

Health First Colorado (Medicaid)

Colorado Access CHP+ (Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Therapy only)

Kaiser Permanente

Optum Healthcare (most plans, including United Healthcare and UMR) (Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Therapy only)
All other insurance plans are considered out-of-network.
Understanding Your Benefits
While we are happy to help verify benefits when possible, it is ultimately the responsibility of the parent or guardian to understand their insurance coverage, including:

Please note that co-pays may not apply to evaluations, depending on your insurance plan.
If your plan requires prior authorization, you are responsible for obtaining authorization before services begin. For families who need provider information when contacting their insurance company, Developmental FX’s organizational NPI is 1508013129.
Out-of-Network Insurance
Developmental FX continues to work with many out-of-network insurance plans.
For out-of-network services:

The full therapy fee will be charged to your card on file upon check in.

You may use any reimbursement received from your insurance company to reimburse yourself.

If your insurance company sends payment directly to Developmental FX, the payment will be applied as a credit to your account.
Private Pay (No Insurance)
Some families choose to receive services without using insurance. Private Pay (No Insurance) rates are generally discounted from rates billed to insurance.
Private Pay services are available when:

You are not enrolled in Medicaid or another government health benefit program.

You do not have insurance for which Developmental FX is an in-network provider.

You have exhausted covered benefits and your insurance contract allows private pay after benefits are exhausted.

You choose services that are not medically reimbursable through insurance (e.g., school consultation).
Private Pay Rates
Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Therapy are $150 per therapy session.
Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Evaluations are $150 per hour. Most evaluations range from 4–6 hours ($600–$900).
Costs vary for Psychological Evaluations depending on the scope of testing. Most evaluations range from approximately $450–$2,100.
Mental Health Therapy is $150 per hour.
Multi-Service Discount
Families receiving three or more therapy sessions per week may qualify for a 15% discount on their weekly therapy services.
Good Faith Estimates
Under the No Surprises Act, families paying privately have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of services before care begins.
A Good Faith Estimate:

Can be updated if services or treatment plans change
If your final bill is more than $400 higher than your estimate, you may have the right to dispute the charge.

Yes. Developmental FX is in-network with Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) for eligible services.

We are in-network with Optum Healthcare, which includes many United Healthcare and UMR plans for occupational therapy and speech-language therapy services. Coverage may vary by plan.
We may still be able to bill your insurance as an out-of-network provider. Our team can help you understand what that means for your family and what costs you may be responsible for.
Out-of-network means Developmental FX does not have a contract with your insurance company. Depending on your plan, your insurance may still reimburse a portion of the cost of services.
We can provide estimates based on the information available to us when you are ready to schedule. However, insurance companies make the final determination regarding coverage, deductibles, co-insurance, and patient responsibility.
Our eligibility team will complete an eligibility and benefit check upon scheduling. However, families are ultimately responsible for understanding their insurance coverage and financial responsibility.
Some insurance plans require referrals or prior authorization before services can begin. Families are responsible for obtaining any required referrals or authorizations. If you are unsure, our team can help point you in the right direction.
A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is an estimate of the expected cost of services. You will be asked to review and sign a GFE before services begin.
In many cases, no. Families who have Medicaid or insurance plans for which Developmental FX is in-network must use those benefits for medically covered services. Private Pay services are only available under specific circumstances and must comply with insurance and payer regulations.
Out-of-Network Billing: We bill your insurance company, and your insurance may reimburse a portion of the cost according to your plan benefits.
Private Pay (No Insurance): Services are entirely self-funded. Developmental FX does not bill insurance, and families may not seek reimbursement from insurance or other third-party payers.
No. Private Pay (No Insurance) services at Developmental FX are considered elective, self-funded services and are not eligible for reimbursement through HSAs, FSAs, insurance plans, Medicaid, or other third-party payers.
Copays may be collected at check-in. Any remaining balance after insurance processing will be charged to the card on file. For OON and private pay services, the full amount will be charged the day services are provided.
A $75 fee may be charged for cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments. Exceptions may apply for illness, severe weather, or emergencies.
