Maya earned their Master of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and holds a BA in Anthropology and Human Rights from Barnard College, Columbia University. Their experience includes community mental health, school-based social work, child and family therapy, care coordination, resource navigation, and supporting individuals and families as they move through complex systems. Maya’s work is grounded in trauma-responsive and anti-oppressive practice, with a relational, play-based approach. They are especially passionate about supporting children and families with respect, practical resources, and compassion for each person’s individual differences, strengths, and lived experience.

Maya has been part of the DFX team in multiple capacities, including as Client Coordinator and Finance Assistant, and brings an understanding of DFX’s family-facing, administrative, and interdisciplinary systems to their clinical social work role.

Outside of DFX, Maya teaches meditation and enjoys spending time outside, singing, making art, tending to the garden, and being with friends. Maya grew up in Denver, CO.
